Description
Structural Treated Timber is pressure-treated, kiln-dried and machine strength graded softwood for building, framing and outdoor timber projects. Available in a wide range of sections and lengths, it is commonly used for timber joists, carcassing, roof and floor framing, decking subframes and garden structures.
Choose from multiple thicknesses, widths and lengths to suit the job, with popular sections commonly referred to as 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 6x2, 8x2 and 9x2 timber.

Structural timber sizes
The range includes common building timber sections such as 47 x 50mm, 47 x 75mm, 47 x 100mm, 47 x 125mm, 47 x 150mm, 47 x 175mm, 47 x 200mm and 47 x 225mm, together with selected 75mm-thick sections. Imperial names such as 4x2, 6x2 and 8x2 are commonly used when referring to the corresponding nominal timber sizes.
Installation and handling
- Store timber flat and off the ground before use
- Re-treat freshly cut ends where treatment has been removed
- Use suitable timber fixings for the application
